Final Results

LEXINGTON, Va. --
Jack Armel won the pole vault, while five other Captains registered top-five finishes in individual events as the Christopher Newport track & field teams capped off the Keydet Invitational on Saturday afternoon at the VMI Corps Physical Training Facility in Lexington.

In the men's pole vault, Armel came out on top after clearing 4.20 meters. That bested the runner-up by nearly a foot and placed him first in a field that included four Division I competitors.

Two other men also finished in the top-five in field events on Saturday. Amir Siders placed third in the shot put with a 13.74-meter toss, while CJ Reeders came in fourth in the long jump after landing a 6.47-meter distance. Joe Allen also finished sixth in the long jump with a 6.25-meter leap.

On the track, Brandon Berry led the way after clocking in at 23.11 in the 200, which placed him third in the field. Perry Spring also came in fifth in the event after crossing the line in 23.79. Later, the two speedsters teamed up with Brenton Duvall and Stephen Lengel in the 4x400-relay and led the foursome to a third-place finish with a 3:31.89 clocking.

Meanwhile, in distance events, Daniel Ferrante was fifth in the mile (4:27.88), Clark Edwards finished sixth in the 800 (2:00.34), and Nick Tolarchyk was 10th in the 3000 (9:07.04).

On the women's side, Logan Funk completed the mile in 5:26.98, which placed her sixth overall. Shortly thereafter, Mckenzie Hurley clocked in at 5:34.52, while Mae Savoie wrapped up the race in 5:34.75. Eliza Dana also led all Division III competitors in the 800 with a time of 2:34.21, while Adrianna DeSantis was 10th in the 200 (27.43) and Logan Warden matched that finish in the 3000 (11:05.65).

In field events, Mazie Clark came in ninth in the shot put with an 11.01-meter toss, while Grace Damewood and Alyssa Roach each posted a 5.05-meter effort in the long jump.

Christopher Newport will return to action on January 28 when the Captains kick off the first day of the Patriot Games at George Mason in Fairfax, Virginia.
