Live Results

NAPERVILLE, Ill. --
The Christopher Newport track & field teams will be well-represented at this week's NCAA Indoor National Championships as five Captains qualified in individual events, while the men's Distance Medley Relay also earned a bid to the two-day title meet, which will begin on Friday at North Central's Al B. Carius Track.

Headlining the contingent, Ryan Scott earned a berth in multiple events after qualifying in both the 60-hurdles and 200. The reigning Capital Athletic Conference Men's Indoor Track & Field Athlete of the Year will be making his first appearance at the indoor nationals after qualifying for the outdoor meet during each of the previous two years. Entering the competition, he is currently seeded seventh in the hurdles (8.13) and 12th in the 200 (22.15).

Entering the meet with the team's highest seed, Logan Harrington is currently slotted fifth in the 800 with a time of 2:13.23. A veteran on the national stage, she previously competed at the indoor nationals in 2016 while placing 15th overall in the 800. She has also advanced to the outdoor meet during her freshman and sophomore campaigns, qualifying twice in the 800 and as a member of the 4x400-relay.

Also making a return trip to the indoor meet, Briana Sutton is back for the third straight year for her work in the pentathlon. This year, the senior standout enters nationals seeded eighth in the combined event after posting a score of 3,301 at the Captains Invitational. Previously, she placed 10th in the pentathlon at the 2016 title meet after finishing 15th during her first attempt in 2015.

On the men's side, Dominique Torres is making his annual trip to the NCAA Championships as one of the country's most decorated triple jumpers. The four-time All-American, who missed last year while recovering from an injury, has advanced to the indoor and outdoor nationals three times apiece. Seeded 12th this year with a 14.44-meter effort, his finest finish at the indoor competition was a fifth-place performance in 2015. Previously, he came in seventh in 2014 and 13th as a freshman in 2013.

Making his first trip to the national meet, Grayson Reid earned a spot in the 5000. The third-year standout enters the competition seeded 15th after posting a time of 14:39.21, which established a new school record. The trip to nationals continues an incredible year for Reid, who was honored as the CAC and USTFCCCA South / Southeast Region Athlete of the Year for his work on the cross country team in the fall.

Along with the individual qualifiers, the men's distance medley relay will also take part in the title meet this week. Zach Campbell, Cullen Monahan, and Jeff Dover will all be returning to nationals for the second straight year after earning All-American honors in the DMR with a fifth-place finish in 2016. Joining the decorated group, freshman Cavanaugh McGaw will be making his first appearance after earning the CAC Rookie of the Year award for his work this season. Overall, the foursome enters the competition seeded 11th with a time of 10:02.83.

Kicking things off on Friday, Sutton will open up nationals with the beginning of the pentathlon at 10:30 a.m. Later, Scott will run the prelims of the 60-hurdles at 1:45 p.m. before heading out for the 200 prelims at 3:45. In the distance events, Harrington will run the 800 prelims at 3:05 p.m., and Reid will take part in the 5000 at 4:25.

Capping off a busy Friday, the men's DMR will hit the track at 5:30 p.m.

On Saturday, Torres will contend for triple jump supremacy beginning at 1 p.m. Meanwhile, the finals of the hurdles will start at 1:45 p.m., the 800 will take place at 3:15, and the 200 will go off at 3:45.
