CHESTER, Pa. -- The Christopher Newport track & field teams registered a series of historic efforts while stockpiling PRs during the Widener Final Qualifier on Monday at the George A. Hansell Track in Chester, Pennsylvania.
Leading the way, the Captains continued to make history in the throwing events. In the men's discus,
Latrell Fomby placed second in the field - and first among collegiate competitors - with a 51.55-meter launch. That marked the third-longest throw in program history and moved him into the top-20 on this year's national charts.
On the women's side,
Katie Stevens won the hammer with a 52.56-meter distance, which also ranks in the top-20 nationally. Meanwhile,
Rylee Ehrett established a new PR in the event with a 44.97-meter throw. That slots fourth on the school's all-time performance list.
In other throwing events, Stevens placed fifth in the discus (42.06 meters), while
