One of the finest defensive standouts in program history, Sean Moriarty was a perennial All-Conference selection and eventually brought home first team NSCAA All-American accolades during the 2011 campaign. Along with the highest honor, he was also a three-time All-Region selection and a two-time All-State pick. A force throughout his time at Christopher Newport, he started 80 of his 82 career games and helped the Captains reach the NCAA Tournament every year from 2009-12.

During his tenure patrolling the back line for Christopher Newport, the Captains posted 37 shutouts and an impressive 0.80 goals-against average. The defense allowed just 72 goals in over 8,000 minutes played, of which Moriarty played well over 80%. He helped guide Christopher Newport to the NCAA Division III National Quarterfinals in 2009 where he became just the third player in program history to score a goal in the Elite Eight round of the postseason tournament.
