Bursting onto the scene as a freshman, Torres was honored as the USTFCCCA Region Athlete of the Year after qualifying for the Division III National Championships in his first attempt. He would go on to qualify eight times as one of the most accomplished jumpers in program history. Over the course of his collegiate career, Torres earned four All-American certificates to tie for the fourth most in program history by a male competitor.
 
In the 2014 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships, Torres completed a leap of 14.89 meters that would land him second in the nation. The national runner-up finish would prove to be a personal best and the sixth longest triple jump in program history. It is one of four top-ten efforts in program history that Torres would establish, including marks in the long jump and triple jump for both indoor and outdoor seasons. He was also a four-year member of the CNU Football program, making six starts as a defensive back.
