Final Results
LEXINGTON, Va. -- The Christopher Newport track & field teams punctuated the Washington and Lee Carnival with a solid showing on Saturday at Wilson Field.
During the meet, the Captains posted a pair of victories in track events.
Daniel Fox won the men's 200 in 21.81. Later, he came back and joined forces with
Kyle Lesko,
Perry Spring, and
Gage Elliott on a victory in the 4x100-relay (42.13).
Among other top finishers on the men's side,
Brandon Peterson was the runner-up in the triple jump (13.49 meters), and
Cooper Albright came in third in the 800 (1:57.61).
Gustavo Leitao also led the squad in both the 110-hurdles (17.61) and 400-hurdles (57.99), while
David Keroack completed the 400 in 53.23 and Lesko wrapped up the 100 in 11.55.
Rounding out the top performers for the men,
Tyler Palmer was seventh in the shot put (12.58 meters),
Logan Bishop placed eighth in the pole vault (3.53 meters), and
Latrell Fomby finished 10th in the discus (37.23 meters).
On the women's side,
Sydney Trussell headlined the meet after coming in third in the 100 with a time of 12.61.
Avery Mangels and
Katie Stevens also captured top-10 efforts in field events. Mangels was seventh in the pole vault (2.78 meters), and Stevens placed eighth in the shot put (10.76 meters).
Among other performers for the women,
Ainsley Miller completed the 200 in 28.55, and
Alex Guzman added a 9.25-meter leap in the triple jump.
Christopher Newport will return to action on March 25 when the Captains host the Blue & Silver Challenge at TowneBank Stadium.
