NEW ORLEANS -- Stockpiling awards for their work throughout the 2025-26 indoor campaign, 19 members of the Christopher Newport track & field teams secured All-South Region honors, which were announced by the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association on Wednesday afternoon.

Among the honorees, five Captains picked up multiple plaudits, including Ellie Nuckols, who was celebrated in five different disciplines. To receive All-Region recognition, standouts must rank among the top-eight performers in at least one individual or relay event.

Starring throughout the winter, Nuckols earned a spot at the NCAA Championships after ranking first in the region in the pentathlon with a score of 3,501. She was also sixth in the region in the 400 (58.01), 60-hurdles (9.07), and long jump (5.43 meters) while serving as a leg on the program's record-setting Distance Medley Relay.

Along with Nuckols, Courtney Mudd, Danielle Hollington, and Sarah Bland helped guide the DMR to a time of 12:21.01 at the Camel City Invitational, which sliced 15 seconds off the previous program standard and placed them third in the region. In addition to their work on the relay, Bland and Mudd also picked up individual citations in the mile. Bland was ranked fifth in the region in the event (5:09.45), and Mudd was seventh (5:11.19).

Flashing her versatility, Ashley Eley slotted fourth in the region in three events. Among her exploits over the winter, the junior star eclipsed 1.61 meters in the high jump at the Patriot Games and established a new PR with a score of 3,001 in the pentathlon during the same competition. Later, she picked up All-League accolades in the triple jump after posting a season-best distance of 11.46 meters during the Coast-to-Coast Athletic Conference Championships.

Equally impressive at the league competition, Seth Morris was hailed as the Men's Field Athlete of the Meet after sweeping the conference crowns in both the weight throw and shot put. Also earning All-Region citations in both disciplines, he set a new personal-best with a 17.33-meter launch in the weight throw during the league meet after unloading a 16.45-meter missile in the shot put at the Holiday Open. Eventually, he slotted third in the South in both events.

Just as dominant in field events, Daniel Young ranked first in the South in the shot put after establishing a new program record with a 16.48-meter rocket at the South Region Final Qualifier. During the same competition, Leo Brennan set a PR in the long jump with a 7.19-meter showcase. That moved him to fourth on the school's all-time charts, ranked second in the region, and punched his ticket to the NCAA Championships.

Jahi Jemison, Sam Anania, and Kendrick Matheny also starred in the heptathlon during the winter. Jemison slotted fourth in the South with a score of 4,324 at the Patriot Games, which marked the second-best performance in school history. Meanwhile, Anania ranked fourth in the region (4,138), and Matheny was sixth (3,602).

Capping off the men's award-winners, Trent Snyder won the league championship and ranked seventh in the region with a height of 4.46-meters in the pole vault, and Ben Varner slotted eighth in the area in the weight throw (15.84 meters). Additionally, Kevin Farnsworth, Tyler Obaugh, Luca Hinton, and Luke Tompkins teamed up on the sixth-fastest DMR clocking after finishing in 10:36.50 at the league meet.

Rounding out the women's honorees, Kayla Asprey ranked fourth in the region in the shot put (12.55 meters), and Sarah Dake was eighth in the 3000 (10:24.18).

Nuckols and Brennan will wrap up the indoor season on Friday when the two Captains take part in the NCAA Championships at the Birmingham Crossplex in Alabama. Nuckols will open the pentathlon at 11:20 a.m. EDT, while Brennan will head out for the long jump at 12:30 p.m. Live results and a video stream of the action will be available at NCAA.com.
