South Region Final Qualifier Live Results // Tufts National Qualifier Live Results

WINCHESTER, Va. --
Making their last push for bids to the NCAA Indoor Championships, the Christopher Newport track & field teams will take part in a pair of meets this week as the Captains travel to the South Region Final Qualifier beginning on Friday at Shenandoah's Wilkins Center before heading to the Tufts National Qualifier at the Gantcher Center in Medford, Massachusetts on Saturday.

Friday's action begins at 3 p.m. in Winchester, Virginia before resuming on Saturday at 11 a.m. In Massachusetts, the Tufts National Qualifier also starts at 11 a.m. on Saturday.

For those fans unable to attend the competitions, live results will be available for both meets. Direct links can be found at the top of this release and on the schedule page.

Following the conclusion of this week's action, the nation's top-20 declared student-athletes in every event will qualify for the NCAA Indoor Championships. They will be joined by the top-12 ranked relay teams from around the country.

The national meet will begin on March 13 at the Birmingham Crossplex in Alabama.

So far this season, five Captains currently rank in the top-50 nationally in at least one event. On the women's side, Ellie Nuckols is 31st in the pentathlon (3223) and 46th in the 400 (58.01), while Ashley Eley is 26th in the triple jump (11.46 meters). Meanwhile, Leo Brennan is 34th in the men's long jump (7.10 meters), while both Seth Morris and Daniel Young sit in the top-50 in the shot put. Morris is 29th nationally (16.45 meters), while Young is 50th (15.89 meters).

All five nationally-ranked competitors are currently scheduled to take part in the South Region Final Qualifier. They will be joined by five other standouts who are looking to make a push for the NCAA Championships. In the heptathlon, Sam Anania, Jahi Jemison, and Kendrick Matheny will represent the men's squad. Meanwhile, for the women, Kayla Asprey is entered in the shot put, and Bailey Billger will compete with Eley and Nuckols in the pentathlon.

On Saturday, four more Captains will make the trip to the Tufts National Qualifier. Sarah Bland and Courtney Mudd are scheduled to run in the women's mile, while Andrew Janetsky is heading north for the men's 3000. Rounding out the field, Trent Snyder will represent CNU in the men's pole vault.

A final list of the selected participants for the NCAA Championships will be published by the national organization by 7 p.m. on Sunday.
