SUNNYVALE, Calif. --
Six Captains hauled in All-League accolades while guiding the Christopher Newport cross country teams to a well-rounded performance during the Coast-to-Coast Athletic Conference Championships on Saturday at Baylands Park in Sunnyvale, California.

During the title meet, the women finished second in the league with 53 points, while the men came in third with a score of 70. UC Santa Cruz swept the team championships for the fifth straight year after the host Banana Slugs accumulated 23 points in the 8k and 26 in the 6k.

Registering the top individual finish for the Captains, Evan Young orchestrated an incredible performance in the 8k. During the race, the junior was third in the field with a time of 24:52.6. That shaved over a full minute off his previous PR and marked the eighth-fastest time in program history. It was also the top clocking by a Captain since 2022.

Along with Young, Clayton Rankin also picked up first-team All-Conference nods on the men's side after wrapping up the race in 25:07.8. That placed him sixth in the field and vaulted him to 13th on the program's all-time performance list.

Rounding out the history-makers for the men, Luke Tompkins became the 42nd Captain in program lore to eclipse the 26-minute mark after finishing 20th in 25:51.9. That cut nine seconds off his previous PR and bumped him to 37th on the school's all-time 8k charts.

Following the top-three runners, Tom Foti was 30th (26:33.7), Kevin Farnsworth came in 33rd (26:52.8), Luca Hinton placed 35th (27:29.3), and Taylor Dalton rounded out the team's top-seven in 38th (29:15.9).

On the women's side, Christopher Newport flooded the top of the leaderboard with four runners garnering All-Conference plaudits. Earning first-team accolades, Sarah Dake finished sixth in the league in 22:05.1, while Sarah Bland was just behind her in seventh with a 22:10.3 mark. Those times rank fourth and fifth on the school's all-time 6k charts.

In addition to the top honorees, Kayla Lopez and Courtney Mudd picked up second-team citations. Lopez also set a new personal-best with a time of 22:43.8, which placed her 12th in the field and moved her to 17th on the program's all-time leaderboard. Moments later, Mudd came in 14th overall with a 22:49.9 clocking.

Two other Captains also eclipsed the 24-minute mark on Saturday. Josie Brumfield shattered her PR by nearly a full minute after coming in 18th with a time of 23:10.7. Meanwhile, Katherine Streeter also notched her top effort in 23:49.8. That placed her 25th in the league.

Rounding out the top-seven, Alexis Rose led the first-year contingent with a time of 24:57.7, which was good for 35th overall. Later, veterans Didi Dasilva (25:05.7) and Millie Weinhold (25:23.3) capped off CNU's finishers. Rose and Weinhold both established PRs with their performances.

With the league meet in the books, Christopher Newport will focus on the NCAA South Regionals, which will take place on November 15 at Green Hill Park in Salem, Virginia.
