2025-26 - Junior Season:
Cross Country - Picked up All-Region honors and was a first-team All-Conference selection after starring throughout his third year with the Captains ... Came in sixth in the 8k at the Coast-to-Coast Athletic Conference Championships after finishing in 25:07.8 ... That vaulted him to 13th on the program's all-time performance list ... Polished off the year by placing 27th at the NCAA South Regionals in 25:47.0 ... Added a pair of top-20 finishes earlier in the season after coming in 13th at the CNU Invitational (27:13.9) and 17th during the Don Cathcart Invitational (26:25.6) ... Eclipsed the 26-minute mark with a clocking of 25:53.0 at the Rowan Inter-Regional Border Battle ... Took part in the Paul Short Run as well ... Kicked off the year with a time of 19:20.9 in the 6k at the Spider Alumni Open.
Track & Field - Earned second-team All-Conference honors after finishing second in the 10,000 at the outdoor championships ... Set a new PR in the event with a time of 31:47.47 at the Colonial Relays, which earned him All-Region laurels and bumped him to sixth on the program's all-time leaderboard ... Came in fourth in both the 3000 and 5000 during the Coast-to-Coast Athletic Conference Indoor Championships ... Established a personal-best in the 3000 at the CNU Qualifier after winning the event in 8:45.54 ... Came back with two more PRs in the 800 (2:04.84) and 1500 (4:14.31) during his very next appearance at the Blue & Silver Challenge ... Wrapped up the season with one last PR at the Widener Final Qualifier after completing the 5000 in 15:07.96 ... Opened the year with a win in the 5000 at the CNU Holiday Open after concluding the race in 15:47.43 ... Was the runner-up in the 3000 at the VMI Team Challenge ... Had nine total top-five finishes during the year.

2024-25 - Sophomore Season:
Cross Country - Hauled in first-team All-Conference honors after placing sixth at the league championships with a time of 26:04.1 ... Concluded his year with a mark of 27:50.1 at the NCAA South Regionals, which placed him 74th in the field ... Chipped in with his top 8k clocking at the Rowan Inter-Regional Border Battle after finishing in 25:44.4 ... That vaulted him to 30th on the program's all-time performance list ... Set a new PR in the 6k at the Spider Alumni Open after finishing in 19:27.8 ... Added back-to-back top-20 efforts in September after placing 15th in the 8k at the CNU Invitational and 7th in the race at the Don Cathcart Invitational ... Also took part in the prestigious Paul Short Run and finished the 8k in 26:44.8.
Track & Field - Placed ninth in the indoor 3000 at the Coast-to-Coast Athletic Conference Championships after clocking in at 8:58.73 ... Came back in the spring with an 8th-place mark in the 10,000 at the outdoor league meet after finishing in 34:31.86 ... Also came in 15th in the 5000 at the spring competition ... Established a new PR in the 10,000 at the Dennis Craddock Coaches Classic and jumped to eighth on the program's all-time leaderboard with a time of 32:34.80 ... Also notched personal-best efforts in the mile (4:33.83) at the CNU Qualifier and the 1500 (4:14.44) during the Blue & Silver Challenge ... Collected 10 top-10 efforts during the year, including third-place marks in the 3000 at the Captains Invitational and South Region Final Qualifier.
 

2023-24 - Freshman Season:
Cross Country - Finished 26th in the 8k at the C2C Championships after completing the course in 26:39.4 ... Wrapped up a solid debut campaign with a time of 27:15.5 at the NCAA South Regionals, which placed him 72nd in the field ... Also added top-100 marks at the CNU Invitational and Paul Short Run ... Posted a time of 27:16.5 at the Rowan Inter-Regional Border Battle as well ... Threw down a 6k clocking of 21:01.5 in his debut at the Spider Alumni Open.
Track & Field - Posted a pair of top-10 performances at the C2C Championships after coming in fifth in the outdoor 10,000 (33:14.46) and ninth in the indoor 3000 (9:09.41) ... Also placed 11th in the league in the outdoor 5000 after clocking in at 15:59.80 ... Chipped in with a new PR in the event (15:34.51) in the season finale at the Widener Final Qualifier ... Set personal standards in the mile (4:38.06) at the Richard Drake Invitational and the 1500 (4:21.25) at the New Captains Classic ... Captured a victory in the 10,000 at the Blue & Silver Challenge after pacing the field in 33:56.58 ... Had 10 top-10 finishes during the year, including fourth-place efforts in the mile and 3000 at the Oceanfront Invitational.

At Warren County - Starred as a member of the cross country and track teams during his time with the Wildcats ... Served as a team captain on the cross country squad as well as the indoor and outdoor track teams during his senior campaign ... Captured the regional championship in the outdoor 3200 in 2023 after winning the district title during his junior season.

Personal - Clayton Scott Rankin is the son of Scott and Kim Rankin ... Majoring in electrical engineering.
