Live Results

LOGAN TOWNSHIP, N.J. --
In their final tune-up before the Coast-to-Coast Athletic Conference Championships, the Christopher Newport cross country teams will take part in the 10th Annual Rowan Border Battle, which will be held on Saturday at the Gloucester County DREAM Park.

Action gets underway with the women's championship 6k at 11 a.m. before the men head out for the championship 8k at 11:45 a.m. The meet will also feature a pair of open races with the women competing at 12:30 p.m. and the men running at 1:15 p.m.

For those fans unable to attend the meet, live results will be available at RowanAthletics.com. A direct link can be found at the top of this release and on the schedule page.

Christopher Newport will be well represented at the competition as 27 Captains are currently scheduled to take part in the meet. CNU will feature nine-person teams in the two championship races with nine other runners participating in the open portion.

Of the Captains attending the competition, 17 will be making a return trip to the DREAM Park. Last year, the men registered a seventh-place showing during the championship race, which marked the squad's top performance in the nine-year history of the prestigious meet. Meanwhile, the women came in 18th overall in the 6k.

On an individual level, Lena Blagg and Clayton Rankin both established personal-best times during last year's Border Battle. Blagg completed the women's race in 23:14, which ranks 30th on the program's all-time 6k performance list. Meanwhile, on the men's side, Rankin crossed in 25:44. That stands 31st on the school's 8k charts.

Along with Blagg, Sarah Bland eclipsed the 24-minute mark last year after completing the competition in 23:47, while Andrew Janetsky joined Rankin at the top of the men's leaderboard with a 25:51 mark.

CNU enters the weekend after putting together an impressive performance at the Paul Short Run on October 3. Facing a field that included 40 regionally-ranked programs and nearly a dozen nationally-ranked squads, the women placed 30th overall, while the men came in 37th. Leading the way, Dake jumped to 11th on the program's all-time 6k performance list with a 22:29.1 showing, while Bland moved to 24th with a 23:07.8 mark.

In addition to the historic performers, nine other Captains established new course PRs at the meet. Among them, Janetsky finished in 25:30.7 and was hailed alongside Dake as the Coast-to-Coast Athletic Conference Cross Country Athletes of the Week. Meanwhile, Rankin finished in 26:25.5, and Luke Tompkins came in third on the team with a 26:48.9 mark. Both of those clockings also established personal-best times at the Goodman Cross Country Course.

Aided by their efforts at the Paul Short Run, both the men and women continued to hold down top-10 positions in the latest USTFCCCA Regional Rankings. The women sit fifth in the South, while the men are slotted 10th.

Following Saturday's trip to New Jersey, Christopher Newport will return to action on November 1 with the Coast-to-Coast Athletic Conference Championships, which will be hosted by UC Santa Cruz in Sunnyvale, California.
