Live Results

CHESTER, Pa. --
Mae Savoie starred in the 1500 while leading the Christopher Newport track & field teams to a solid outing at the Widener Final Qualifier on Monday evening at the Leslie C. Quick, Jr. Stadium.

During the meet, Savoie shaved over a second off her previous PR in the 1500 while finishing the race in 4:47.19. That marked the ninth-fastest clocking in program history.

Among other standouts on the women's side, Katie Stevens came in second in the discus (40.15 meters) and third in the hammer (47.62). Meanwhile, Alyssa Roach was fourth in the long jump (5.41 meters), while Adrianna DeSantis threw down a time of 58.41 in the 400, which placed her 10th in the field.

Claire Garster also set an outdoor PR in the 5000 after wrapping up the competition in 19:48.14. That shaved nearly three seconds off her previous standard set earlier this year at the Dennis Craddock Coaches Classic.

On the men's side, Christopher Newport stockpiled top-10 efforts in field events. Wade Dunkelberger was the runner-up in the high jump after topping 1.95 meters, while CJ Reeders came in third in the triple jump with a 14.19-meter mark. Among other top performers, Jack Armel was fifth in the pole vault (4.35 meters), and Gage Elliott placed sixth in the long jump (6.53 meters). Nick Thomas also excelled in multiple disciplines, finishing seventh in the triple jump (13.29 meters) and ninth in the long jump (6.22).

In throwing events, Daniel Young paced the squad with a 12.87-meter launch in the shot put, and Dante Ntiganzwa added the team's top mark in the discus with a 47.24-meter heave.

On the track, Nick Tolarchyk was ninth in the 3000-steeplechase (10:07.13), while Gustavo Leitao matched that finish in the 400-hurdles (56.29). Equally impressive, Kyle Lesko led the Captains in both the 100 (11.49) and 200 (22.86), while Perry Spring threw down a time of 51.54 in the 400. Elliott, Lesko, Spring, and Daniel Fox also came in fourth in the 4x100-relay after completing the race in 42.38.

Rounding out the team's top efforts on Monday, Daniel Ferrante concluded the 1500 in 3:54.43.

The Captains will return to action later this week with the Williams Final Qualifier on Wednesday and the MIT Final Qualifier on Thursday.
