WILLIAMSBURG, Va. -- Continuing their assault on the history books, the Christopher Newport track & field teams established a handful of PRs throughout an action-packed Friday during the 60th Annual Colonial Relays at William & Mary's Zable Stadium.
Saving some of CNU's finest work for the end of the day,
Sarah Dake and
Clayton Rankin starred in late-night editions of the 10,000. On the women's side, Dake led all Division III competitors - and came in seventh overall - with a time of 38:02.67. That sliced over a minute off her old PR and marked the third-fastest clocking in school history.
Meanwhile, in the final event of the evening, Rankin placed fifth in the men's 10,000 after crossing the line in 31:47.47. That launched him to fifth on the program's all-time performance list and was the finest effort by a Captain since 2017.
In other events on the track,
Ellie Nuckols came in third overall with a time of 1:02.50 in the 400-hurdles. That set a new personal-best, marked the fifth-fastest time in program history, and vaulted her into the top-10 on this year's national leaderboard. Additionally,
Sarah Bland climbed to 10th on the school's all-time charts in the 3000-steeplechase after finishing ninth in 11:41.38. That cut over 20 seconds off her previous PR, which she established at the 2025 Coast-to-Coast Athletic Conference Championships.
Along with the historic work on the track, three Captains notched all-time marks in throwing events on Friday. In the shot put,
Seth Morris established an outdoor PR while placing fifth overall with a 15.81-meter toss. That marked the third-longest heave in school history. Meanwhile, two standouts excelled in the javelin.
Charlie Anania was fifth on the men's side with a 48.91-meter launch, while
Sadie Forde came in ninth in the women's event with a 30.67-meter missile. Both of those efforts rank 10th on Christopher Newport's all-time charts.
Among other top performers on Friday,
Andrew Janetsky posted his first sub-4-minute time in the 1500. The second-year speedster eventually placed third in the race after crossing in 3:58.15. In other events on the men's side,
Kevin Farnsworth finished the 800 in 1:57.97,
Eli Wilson wrapped up the 400 in 50.61, and
Evan Young completed the 5000 in 15:08.82.
Meanwhile, for the women,
Courtney Mudd threw down a mark of 5:05.71 in the 1500.
Christopher Newport will return to action tomorrow with the final day of the Colonial Relays. Field events begin at 10 a.m., while track disciplines start 90 minutes later.
