Live Results

LEXINGTON, Va. --
After a month-long break since the season opener in December, the Christopher Newport track & field teams will return to action on Friday when the Captains kick off the first day of the VMI Keydet Invitational at the Corps Physical Training Facility in Lexington, Virginia.

Friday's portion of the meet begins at 1 p.m. with the start of the women's 60-hurdles and pole vault along with the men's weight throw and triple jump. Saturday opens up at 10 a.m. with the men's mile, pole vault, shot put, and long jump.

For those fans unable to attend the meet, live results will be available at VMIKeydets.com. A direct link can be found at the top of this release and on the schedule page.

Overall, 32 Captains are currently scheduled to take part in the meet. Among the busiest standouts this week, Leo Brennan, Gage Elliott, Perry Spring, and Alyssa Roach are all entered in three different disciplines.

Coming into the competition, five Captains are currently ranked in the top-50 nationally in at least one event. Headlining the contingent, Daniel Fox is ranked in two sprints on the men's side. The junior star is 44th in the country in the 60 (7.02) and 47th in the 200 (22.97).

Along with Fox, CJ Reeders is 19th nationally in the men's triple jump with a 13.57-meter mark. On the women's side, Roach is 14th in the 60-hurdles (9.15), Sydney Trussell is 30th in the 60 (7.95), and Madi Rawlings is 43rd in the 3000 (11:05.32).

Christopher Newport was last in action on December 3 when the Captains hosted the CNU Holiday Open. During that competition, Katie Stevens jumped to third in program history in the weight throw with a 14.08-meter toss, which also earned her the Coast-to-Coast Athletic Conference Field Athlete of the Week award.

In addition to Stevens, five other Captains are also coming off victories during the Holiday Open. Roach won the 60-hurdles, while Rawlings captured the 3000, Casey Yenyo took the 800, and Avery Mangels finished first in the pole vault during her collegiate debut. Meanwhile, on the men's side, Tyler Palmer snatched the crown in the shot put.

Following this weekend's action, Christopher Newport will travel to Virginia Beach for the start of the Marlin Invitational on January 20.
