Christopher Newport Track & Field Earns 21 All-Region Awards

NEW ORLEANS -- The Christopher Newport track & field teams hauled in 21 All-Region awards following a fantastic indoor campaign that saw the Captains dominate the top of the South Region performance lists in a variety of disciplines.

Leading the way, three standouts collected two awards apiece. Headlining the group, Alyssa Roach picked up a pair of honors after ranking first in the region in the pentathlon (3,165) and third in the 60-hurdles (9.07). The junior standout will wrap up the indoor season on Friday when she takes part in the pentathlon during the NCAA National Championships at the JDL Fast Track in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.

Along with Roach, Kaitlyn Ardrey also collected two awards for the women. On an individual level, she was honored for her work in the 3000 after ranking second in the region with a time of 10:14.62. She was also celebrated alongside Mae Savoie, Callie Pratt, and Casey Yenyo for their showing in the Distance Medley Relay. Together, the foursome stood third in the South with a time of 12:49.61.

For the men, Jack Armel secured All-Region plaudits after ranking first in the heptathlon (4,071) and fifth in the pole vault (4.40 meters). Additionally, Latrell Fomby was fourth in the region in the heptathlon (2,785), while Allan Pedin was fourth in the pole vault (4.45 meters).
