Live Results // Video Stream

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. --
The Christopher Newport track & field teams will wrap up their indoor home slate on Sunday when the Captains host the CNU Qualifier at the Freeman Center.

Action gets underway at 1 p.m. with the start of the women's pole vault as well as the men's weight throw and long jump. Track events begin 30 minutes later with the men's distance medley relay.

For those fans unable to attend the meet, live results and a video stream of the action will be available at CNUsports.com. Direct links to both features can be found at the top of this release and on the schedule page.

Christopher Newport will be one of a dozen colleges with representatives at Sunday's meet. Overall, 60 Captains are currently slated to take part in at least one event during the all-day competition.

Including Sunday's action, CNU is scheduled to compete in three final qualifiers during the lead-up to the NCAA Championships, which will begin on March 13 at the Birmingham Crossplex in Alabama. At the end of the regular season, the top-20 declared student-athletes in every event will qualify for the championship meet along with the top-12 ranked relay teams around the country.

In addition to Sunday's home meet, the Captains will also travel to the South Region Final Qualifier at Shenandoah and the Tufts National Qualifier in Massachusetts next weekend.

So far this season, five Captains sit in the top-50 nationally in at least one individual event. On the women's side, Ellie Nuckols is 25th in the pentathlon (3223) and 40th in the 400 (58.01), while Ashley Eley is 19th in the triple jump (11.46 meters) and 49th in the pentathlon (3001). Additionally, Nuckols, Courtney Mudd, Danielle Hollington, and Sarah Bland are 30th in the distance medley relay (12:21.01).

For the men, Seth Morris and Daniel Young both rank among the top performers in the nation in the shot put. Morris is currently 26th (16.45 meters), and Young is 46th (15.89 meters). In other field events, Leo Brennan sits 27th in the long jump after winning the league title with a 7.10-meter leap last week.

Rounding out the nationally-ranked standouts, Kevin Farnsworth, Tyler Obaugh, Luca Hinton, and Luke Tompkins are 43rd nationally in the Distance Medley Relay. Together, the foursome completed the event in 10:36.50 at the conference championships.

Following Sunday's meet, CNU will return to action on Friday for the start of the South Region Final Qualifier before the Tufts National Qualifier kicks off on Saturday.
