Six Captains Garner Coast-to-Coast Athletic Conference Women's Lacrosse All-League Accolades

FREDERICKSBURG, Va. -- Starring for the Captains throughout the 2024 campaign, six members of the Christopher Newport women's lacrosse program secured first-team All-League accolades, which were announced by the Coast-to-Coast Athletic Conference on Thursday morning.

Headlining the decorated contingent, Kelsey Winters and Emma Jackson were both celebrated for the fourth straight year. Only 11 other Captains finished their time at CNU as four-time All-Conference selections. Meanwhile, Winters became just the seventh player to be a four-time first-team pick, joining a list of luminaries that includes CNU Hall of Famers Meaghan Galvin, Meghan Harkey, Ashton Marshall, and Kaitlin Quigley.

Along with the four-time honorees, Syd Guidi earned her third consecutive All-Conference award, while Julia Iapicca and Brookelyn Morrison were honored for the second straight season. Rounding out the award-winners, Madi Rozgonyi received the recognition for the first time in her career after being named the league's Rookie of the Year in 2022.

Overall, the six honorees equaled the most first-team selections in program history, matching the 2008 and 2023 squads.

Tormenting the opposition throughout her senior campaign, Guidi ranks second in the league with 55 goals and fourth with a .585 shooting percentage. Additionally, she slots second among conference competitors with 11 free-position goals, which also stands as the 12th-highest single-season total in program history.

Along with her work on the attack, the Southborough, Massachusetts native also sits fourth in the league with 53 draw controls. Coupled with her offensive exploits, Guidi is just the third Captain in school history to register at least 50 draws and 50 goals in a single campaign. Among her top individual efforts this season, she has produced 11 hat-tricks while also tying the single-game program record with 14 draw controls at Lynchburg on April 13.

One of the nation's leading midfielders, Iapicca has continued to build an incredible résumé during her fifth year at Christopher Newport. Coming off of an All-American season in 2023, she currently leads the conference with 58 goals, which also stands as the 10th-highest total in school history. Showcasing her versatility, she slots second in the league with 52 ground balls and 33 caused turnovers as well.

Compiling a slew of top-flight efforts throughout the year, the Frederick, Maryland native has 14 multi-goal eruptions, including seven strikes at Rowan on April 6, which equaled the fifth-most by a Captain in program lore. Meanwhile, on the defensive side, Iapicca has forced at least one turnover in 15 of her 18 appearances, including seven strips against Haverford on March 16.

Serving as a centerpiece on CNU's back line, Jackson has helped quiet opposing attacks throughout the 2024 campaign. During her fourth year with the program, she has pocketed at least two takeaways in six of her outings, including five caused turnovers against Rhodes on March 10. Overall, her 24 total strips rank fourth among conference competitors.

Aided by her work this season, the Mount Airy, Maryland native is tied atop Christopher Newport's all-time career charts with 89 caused turnovers. Equally effective in the middle of the field while helping control possession, Jackson also ranks sixth in the league with 43 draw controls this year, including eight in the semifinals of the Coast-to-Coast Athletic Conference Tournament against Mary Washington on May 1.

After being named the league's Rookie of the Year in 2023, Morrison has built upon her strong debut with an even more incredible sophomore season. The second-year star leads the conference with 47 caused turnovers, which also stands as a new program record. Meanwhile, her 82 draw controls rank second in the league and fifth on the school's single-season charts.

On the other side of the field, the Ashburn, Virginia native has made consistent contributions on the offensive end while ranking sixth in the league with 35 goals and fifth with 15 assists. Morrison has tallied at least one point in 17 of her appearances, including 12 multi-goal efforts. Three of those outbursts have come against top-20 competition, while she also notched her fifth hat-trick of the year against Mary Washington in the league semifinals on May 1.

Helping anchor one of the country's top defensive units, Rozgonyi has excelled on the back line throughout her third year in Newport News. During her junior campaign, she currently ranks ninth in the league with 18 caused turnovers, while her 23 ground balls also place her in the top-20 on the league charts.

Making consistent contributions, the Elkridge, Maryland native has registered at least one takeaway in 12 of her appearances, including four strips against Haverford on March 16. Rozgonyi also added a pair of caused turnovers during a top-20 showdown with No. 19 St. John Fisher on March 5. Meanwhile, she has collected a ground ball in 15 of the squad's 18 games while snapping off a goal against Rhodes on March 10.

Picking apart opposing defenses during another record-setting season, Winters leads the conference with 67 assists and 89 points. Her 67 helpers also place her third in the NCAA and are tied for the most in program history. For her efforts this year, she has been honored as the league's Offensive Player of the Week on three separate occasions.

Erupting with regularity, the Harwood, Maryland native has notched at least one point in all 18 games, including 14 appearances with at least two assists. She handed out eight helpers against Meredith on March 23 before exploding for nine points at Lynchburg on April 13. Guided by her work in 2024, Winters currently has 270 career assists, which stands as the second-highest total in the history of Division III lacrosse.

Christopher Newport will continue its season on Saturday at 1 p.m. when the Captains travel to No. 5 Salisbury for the Coast-to-Coast Athletic Conference Championship.
