GRANVILLE, Ohio --
The 19th-ranked Christopher Newport women's lacrosse team will face a pair of tests in Ohio this weekend as the Captains travel to No. 10 Denison on Saturday at noon before squaring off with Kenyon just 24 hours later.

Entering the weekend, CNU sits at 8-2 on the season, including 2-1 on the road. Meanwhile, Denison is 7-1, while Kenyon is 4-4.

Live stats and a video stream of both contests will be provided by the host institutions. Direct links to all features can be found at the top of this release and on the schedule page.

The Captains are looking to bounce back after their five-game winning streak was snapped by Washington (Md.) on Wednesday. In a game that included 13 ties and seven lead changes, the Shorewomen were able to collect a 20-16 win after orchestrating a five-goal run in the fourth quarter.

Despite the stumble, several standouts made history for CNU. Faith O'Connor notched her 13th consecutive multi-goal effort, tying former legends Ashton Marshall and Syd Guidi for the longest streak in school history. Meanwhile, Brookelyn Morrison eclipsed 300 career draws and 150 caused turnovers on Wednesday, while Hadley Chadwick hauled in her 400th save.

Overall, Morrison joined CNU Hall of Famer Meaghan Galvin as the only Captains to reach 300 draws, while Chadwick became the fifth goalie to hit 400 saves. Meanwhile, on a national level, Morrison became the 52nd player in Division III history to secure at least 150 career caused turnovers.

Through Wednesday's game, Christopher Newport features one of the most electric attacks in the nation. The Captains currently sit fifth in the NCAA in scoring offense with a 17.10 goals-per-game rate. While O'Connor and Elena Sorkin both rank in the top-20 nationally in goals this season, CNU's success on the offensive end has been a collective endeavor. Overall, 20 different players have tallied at least one point, which matches the most in a single year in program history. The 2008, 2013, 2016, and 2017 squads had equally diverse attacks.

Among the offensive contributors in 2026, eight Captains have already recorded their first career point this spring. Freshmen Annabella Burke, Brooklynn Peterson, and Elle Roberts all have double-digit point totals this year, while fellow first-year contributors Megan Rotzler, Maura Farrell, Charlotte Hemingway, and Sam Murphy have also found the back of the cage. Additionally, junior Cayden Grasso posted her first point with an assist in the win over St. Mary's (Md.) last month.

Denison comes into the weekend on a four-game winning streak, including a 12-11 triumph over No. 17 Messiah, which kicked off that run. Overall, the Big Red have faced three nationally-ranked opponents this season. Along with the win over the Falcons, the squad also upended No. 4 Gettysburg, 11-10, in the opener before dropping an 18-15 decision at No. 22 Chicago on March 7.

On an individual level, Finlay Harmon leads Denison with 25 points, including 19 goals. Meanwhile, Mary Martinson sits second on the squad with 18 goals while also adding a team-high 28 draw controls. Between the pipes, Julianne Henigan has a .473 save percentage and 8.05 goals-against-average. The junior came through with a season-high 10 saves in the opening win over No. 4 Gettysburg.

Kenyon enters the weekend on a three-game roll, including a 15-8 win over Calvin on Thursday. During that contest, Bridgette Cassidy and Spencer Kirsch both had four goals for the Owls, while Meagan Lacombe hauled in 11 saves. In the end, the win was the program's third straight triumph by at least six goals dating back to March 13.

So far this season, Kirsch leads Kenyon with 21 goals, while Charlotte Skelly is second on the team with 17 strikes. Among other top performers, Lily Mason has stuffed the stat sheet with 12 goals, 22 draw controls, and 13 caused turnovers. Meanwhile, on the back end, Lacombe has a .417 save percentage and 11.07 goals-against-average.

In three previous meetings between Christopher Newport and Denison, the Big Red hold a 2-1 edge, including a 12-11 win in Newport News last year. Meanwhile, CNU notched a 21-10 victory over Kenyon in the only meeting between the two programs in 2024.

Following the squad's Ohio swing, the Captains will remain on the road for a noon showdown at No. 18 Rowan on April 4.
