NORTHBOROUGH, Mass. -- Seven members of the Christopher Newport women's lacrosse team earned a spot on the IWLCA National Academic Honor Roll as Hadley Chadwick, Kate Lamendola, Carys May, Gabby Saia, Emily Snyder, Jacqueline Thomas, and Kate Webb were celebrated by the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association on Wednesday afternoon.

In order to secure a place on the Academic Honor Roll, student-athletes must be either a junior, senior, or graduate student with a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher.

Overall, the seven honorees equaled the most in program history, matching the 2023 squad.

Along with the individual award-winners, the entire team was selected as an Academic Honor Squad for the eighth time since 2016. That distinction is bestowed upon programs with at least a 3.2 team GPA during the academic year.

Punctuating her career as one of the most accomplished goalies in program history, Chadwick registered 16 victories during her senior season, which marked the second-highest total in school lore. Her 144 saves also placed her second in the conference and ninth on CNU's all-time charts. A consistent presence between the pipes, the political science major set a new program standard with 47 career triumphs, while her 4,384 minutes of work were the fifth-most by any goalkeeper in Division III history.

Continuing to stockpile awards for her work, Lamendola picked up All-Conference, All-State, and All-Region accolades for the second straight year after starring on the midfield unit. The former USA Lacrosse Magazine All-American was one of only two players in the league to finish 2026 with at least 30 points and 30 takeaways. She eventually ranked sixth in the conference with 32 caused turnovers while adding 24 goals and eight assists. In 61 career games, the communications major has 72 total points and 76 takeaways.

After solidifying her spot as one of the top defenders in the Coast-to-Coast Athletic Conference during her first two years, May was sidelined for most of the spring before returning to make an appearance in the NCAA Tournament against Meredith on May 9. Prior to her junior campaign, the 2024 C2C Rookie of the Year was a staple in the starting lineup while appearing in 36 games as a freshman and sophomore. During her career, the environmental and organismal biology major has amassed 33 caused turnovers and 46 ground balls.

A consensus All-American and the VaSID All-State Defensive Player of the Year, Saia finished her junior season with 52 caused turnovers, which placed her 20th on the national leaderboard and marked the third-highest total in program history. Suffocating the competition, she had at least one strip in 21 of her 23 appearances while notching multiple takeaways on 13 occasions. One of the most dominant defensive standouts in school history, the social work major already ranks eighth in program lore with 81 career caused turnovers.

Making 10 appearances during her third year with the Captains, Snyder scored a goal in a win over St. Mary's (Md.) on February 28 before grabbing a pair of ground balls in the opening round of the NCAA Tournament against Meredith on May 9. Stepping up against top-flight competition, she saw time in three battles against top-25 foes, including regular season triumphs over No. 23 Haverford on March 11 and No. 6 York (Pa.) on March 21. In her three seasons, the psychology major has taken part in 23 bouts since 2024.

Seeing action in five games during her junior campaign, Thomas scored her second career goal after converting a free-position attempt in a win over St. Mary's (Md.) on February 28. Later, she made her postseason debut with an appearance in the opening round of the national playoffs against Meredith on May 9 while helping guide the Captains to the NCAA Quarterfinals for the first time in program history. Overall, the chemistry major has seen action in nine games over the past three seasons.

After spending her first two collegiate campaigns at Duquesne, Webb immediately established herself as one of the league's finest facilitators during her first year with the Captains. In the spring, the junior ranked second in the conference with 40 assists, which also marked the ninth-most by any Captain in school history. She also slotted ninth in the league with 53 total points. Consistently effective throughout the year, the marketing major posted at least one point in 20 of her 23 appearances, including the final 14 games of the season.

Piecing together the finest campaign in program history, Christopher Newport eventually finished 2026 with a 16-7 record while advancing to the NCAA Quarterfinals. For their efforts, the Captains wrapped up the year ranked 12th in the final IWLCA National Coaches Poll.
