2027 Schedule

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. -- The Christopher Newport women's lacrosse program will face a challenging slate of games in the spring as the Captains recently unveiled their 2027 schedule, which includes nine home dates and nine battles against programs that advanced to last year's NCAA Tournament.

Among CNU's upcoming foes, six concluded 2026 ranked in the top-25 of the IWLCA National Coaches Poll. That group includes No. 4 Salisbury, who reached last year's NCAA Semifinals, as well as No. 8 York (Pa.), No. 13 Gettysburg, and No. 16 Rowan, who all advanced to the third round of the national tournament.

After orchestrating one of the finest seasons in program history last spring, Christopher Newport will treat its hometown faithful to a four-game homestand to begin the 2027 campaign. The Captains will kick off the year with a showdown against Shenandoah on February 13 before wrapping up the early-season home stretch with bouts against Lynchburg on February 20, Coast Guard on February 21, and York (Pa.) on February 27.

Following the homestand, CNU will embark on a Spring Break trip to Tennessee. On March 3, the team will travel to Memphis for a match-up with Sewanee before heading to The Harpeth Hall School in Nashville for a neutral-site tilt against Rhodes, who reached the second round of the NCAA Tournament last year.

After the excursion, the Captains will return home on March 10 for a tilt against Gettysburg before hitting the road again for four of their next five contests.

During a grueling mid-season stretch, Christopher Newport will head to Haverford on March 13 and Swarthmore on March 14 for back-to-back games in Pennsylvania. Then, after a brief respite at home for a battle with Rowan on March 20, the squad will return to the road for appearances at Randolph-Macon on March 24 and St. Mary's (Md.) on March 31.

Entering the stretch run, CNU will host Meredith on April 3 and Salisbury on April 10, which will conclude a three-game stretch against programs that advanced to last year's NCAA Tournament. Then, the Captains will head out on April 17 for a trip to Roanoke before hosting Washington and Lee on April 20 and wrapping up the year at Mary Washington on April 24.

Following the regular season, the Coast-to-Coast Athletic Conference Tournament will begin on April 28. Three days later, on May 1, the league's champion will be crowned in the title bout.

CNU is coming off of a 2026 season in which the program advanced to the NCAA Quarterfinals for the first time in program history. Along the way, the Captains posted a 16-7 record and knocked off four teams that finished the year ranked in the top-25, including No. 6 Denison and No. 11 Washington and Lee during the national playoffs. Eventually, Christopher Newport finished the spring ranked 12th in the final IWLCA National Coaches Poll.
