Eastern Shore Challenge Final Results // Hopkins-Loyola Invitational Live Results
SALISBURY, Md. -- Competing in two meets spread across the state of Maryland, the Christopher Newport track & field teams put together a slew of outstanding efforts, including a record-setting throw by
Katie Stevens, on Saturday during the Eastern Shore Challenge and Hopkins / Loyola Invitational.
Headlining the busy day, Stevens set a new school record in the hammer throw at Salisbury's Eastern Shore Challenge. During the event, she unleashed a 47.00-meter heave. That broke the previous program standard of 46.43 meters set by Hannah Shoemaker at the MIT Final Qualifier on May 17, 2018. It also marked the longest toss by anyone in the Coast-to-Coast Athletic Conference since 2019.
In addition to her work in the hammer, Stevens also set a new PR in the shot put. Posting her second win of the competition, she pieced together an 11.96-meter effort. That marked the 10th-best showing in program history.
Along with Stevens,
