Mount Olive Final Qualifier Results
RICHMOND, Va. -- Joe Kilama and
Peyton Blanding posted the top marks in their respective events, while several other Captains looked sharp on Sunday afternoon as the Christopher Newport track & field teams wrapped up the Mount Olive and VCU Final Qualifiers.
Competing at Sports Backers Stadium in Richmond, Blanding registered the top height in the women's pole vault at the VCU Final Qualifier after eclipsing 3.40 meters. Meanwhile, Kilama added the finest showing in the men's hammer after unleashing a 44.35-meter heave.
In other throwing events during the competition,
Katie Stevens finished second overall - and first among Division III entrants - with a 40.36-meter launch in the women's hammer. Additionally, in the men's shot put,
Amir Siders came in second overall (13.67 meters), while
Tyler Palmer was third (13.27).
In North Carolina, five other Captains took part in the Mount Olive Final Qualifier at the Ray McDonald Sr. Sports Complex. In field events,
CJ Reeders was second in the triple jump (13.87 meters), and
Jack Armel placed third in the pole vault (4.40 meters).
On the track,
Adrianna DeSantis led the way with a third-place showing in the 400 after she crossed the line in 59.49. Meanwhile,
Daniel Fox finished sixth overall in the men's 100 after posting a time of 10.89 in the prelims.
Rounding out the competitors,
Alyssa Roach took part in both the 100- and 400-hurdles. In the shorter event, she came in fourth with a 14.84 clocking. In the 400-meter version, she was seventh overall in 1:06.56.
Christopher Newport will return to action on Monday when the Captains head to Pennsylvania for the Swarthmore Final Qualifier.
