NEWPORT NEWS, Va. -- The Christopher Newport track & field teams will be busy this weekend as the Captains will compete in the combined events at the Patriot Games in Fairfax on Friday and Saturday before hosting the Vince Invitational on Sunday at the Freeman Center.

At the Patriot Games, which will take place at the George Mason Field House,
Baylee Hodson and
Alyssa Roach will compete in the pentathlon on Friday beginning at 4 p.m. Meanwhile,
Jack Armel and
Latrell Fomby are entered in the heptathlon, which spans both days.

On Sunday, Christopher Newport will host the Vince Brown Invitational starting at 9:30 a.m. with the men's weight throw. The Distance Medley Relay will kick off the track portion of the meet at 10:30 a.m.

Overall, more than a dozen universities are scheduled to compete at the Vince Brown Invitational, while 43 Captains are currently entered in at least one event.

Coming into the weekend, three Captains are currently ranked in the top-50 nationally in an individual event.
CJ Reeders leads the way and is slotted 21st in the country in the triple jump (13.88 meters) and 47th in the long jump (6.75 meters). Meanwhile,
Daniel Fox is 28th in the 60 (6.94), and
Jack Armel is 39th in the pole vault (4.40 meters).

Along with the individual standouts, Christopher Newport also slots in the top-10 in both Distance Medley Relays. On the women's side,
Logan Funk,
Eliza Dana,
Mae Savoie, and Mckenzie Hurley stand sixth in the NCAA with an adjusted 13.09.51 clocking, while
Clark Edwards,
Cooper Albright,
Nathanael Ferrante, and
Daniel Ferrante are eighth on the men's side with a 10:48.79 mark.

In addition to the four Captains set to compete in the combined events at George Mason, several members of the team are preparing for a full slate of action during the Vince Brown Invitational. More than half of the student-athletes scheduled to compete on Sunday are entered in multiple events, while
Hannah Gentrup leads the way with three sprints and a relay on her docket.

Following this week's meets, Christopher Newport will return to action on February 4 for the start of the Camel City Invitational in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.
