Sprinters Take Over as Christopher Newport Track & Field Wraps Up Final Day of Camel City Invitational

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. --
After the distance runners headlined the first day of the Camel City Invitational, Christopher Newport's sprinters stepped up on the final day of the competition as the Captains finished off a solid two-day stretch at the JDL Fast Track on Saturday.
 
Leading the way, Adrianna DeSantis paced all Division III competitors in the 60 after posting a season-best time of 8.29. Later, she returned to the track and placed second among her divisional rivals with a clocking of 1:03.15 in the 400.
 
Also taking part in the 60 on Saturday, Lindsey Stirling finished the race in 8.43, while Collin Stubbs added a 7.23 mark in the men's event.
 
A pair of field standouts also took part in the competition on Saturday. Mazie Clark was second among Division III entrants in the women's shot put with a 10.95-meter heave, while CJ Reeders came through with a 13.67-meter effort in the men's triple jump.
 
Christopher Newport will return to action on Sunday when the Captains host the Vince Brown Invitational at the Freeman Center. The meet opens with field events at 9 a.m.
