Final Results
LEXINGTON, Va. -- The Christopher Newport track & field teams capped off a busy weekend with a strong effort on the final day of the Keydet Invitational on Saturday at VMI's Corps Physical Training Center.
"It was a good overall meet this weekend," said head coach
Tyler Wingard. "13 PRs with everyone in pretty heavy training cycles is good to see. We had several other flashes of great things to come, too."

In the men's 800,
Ryan Henderson climbed the NCAA leaderboard while putting himself in the top-50 nationally after completing the race in 2:00.41. That clocking marked the fastest in his heat and placed him 13th overall at the meet.

In other distance events, the Captains placed a pair of runners in the top-20 during both the men's mile and 3000. Leading the way,
Jason Putnam came in 11th in the mile with a time of 4:32.14, while
Will Saunders was up next with a 4:32.57 clocking. During the 3000,
Sam Koltisko placed 13th after completing the event in 8:59.51, and
Eric Speeney rounded out the top-finishers with a 17th-place showing in 9:12.39.

On the women's side,
Kaitlyn Ardrey came in 15th in the mile after clocking in at 5:24.99, and
Casey Yenyo finished 23rd in the 800 with a time of 2:35.01.

In shorter distances,
Perry Spring captured a win in his heat during the 400 after crossing the line in 52.99, while
Collin Stubbs posted the squad's top time in the 200 with a 23.60 mark. Meanwhile,
Adrianna DeSantis excelled in both events for the women. She completed the 200 in 27.57 and capped off the 400 in 1:03.83.

After headlining the first day of the meet,
CJ Reeders and
Alyssa Roach both wrapped up their weekend with one final starring role on Saturday. Reeders came in 24th in the long jump with a 6.33-meter distance, while Roach matched that finish on the women's side after landing a 4.96-meter jump.

In other field events on Saturday,
Allan Pedin came in 17th in the men's pole vault (4.00 meters), while
Mazie Clark and
Amir Siders led the Captains in the shot put. Clark placed 21st in the women's event with a 10.65-meter toss, and Siders finished 24th among the men with a 12.19-meter heave.

Christopher Newport will return to action on Friday with the start of the Captains Invitational & Combined Events at the Freeman Center.
