Bucknell Final Results // Towson Final Results
TOWSON, Md. -- Jeff Dover broke his own school record in the 5000 at the Bucknell Bison Outdoor Classic, while
Sarah Johnson moved to second in program history in the discus at the Towson Invitational as the Christopher Newport track & field teams excelled at a pair of meets on Saturday.
In Pennsylvania, Dover pieced together another record-breaking run. After taking down the 1500 mark last week, the senior star torched his own 5000 record on Saturday. Competing at Bucknell's Christy Mathewson Memorial Stadium, Dover finished eighth overall - and first among Division III competitors - with a 14:21.61 clocking. That shaved nearly 14 seconds off his previous standard of 14:35.06, which he established last month at the Blue & Silver Challenge.
Also taking part in the Bison Classic,
Grayson Reid capped off the late-night action by finishing 20th overall in the 10,000. He crossed the line in 30:34.65, which places him among the top-20 nationally this year.
Leading the way at Towson, the CNU throwers continued a strong spring season. Johnson highlighted the group with a 41.05-meter toss in the discus. That vaulted her to second on the program's all-time performance list and marked the top effort by a Captain since 2004. Meanwhile, on the men's side,
Brendon Burrows won a pair of disciplines. He captured the shot put with a 15.09-meter toss and claimed the discus with a 49.60-meter distance.
Along with the headliners,
Legend Hayes was second in the hammer (52.80 meters) and fourth in both the shot put (13.68) and discus (47.15).
Hannah Shoemaker and
Carlos Bazan-Alfaro also added a pair of top-10 efforts. Shoemaker was fifth in the shot put (12.86) and ninth in the hammer (41.55), while Bazan-Alfaro was sixth in the men's shot (13.43) and ninth in the hammer (40.20).
Starring in the sprints,
Ryan Scott led the Captains in both the 110-hurdles and 200. In the hurdles, he placed second overall with a time of 14.48, which marked the fifth-best clocking in program history. The senior speedster also added a third-place showing in the 200 (21.65). Meanwhile,
Lewis Folli was fourth in the 110-hurdles (15.03), and
Hunter Sutliff was eighth in the 400-hurdles (56.69).
Among other top efforts on the men's side,
Peyton Artz won the 5000 in 15:25.25, while
Daniel Cretney and
Joseph Lightbody followed close behind. Cretney was the runner-up in 15:26.27, and Lightbody was third in 15:29.73.
Eric Speeney also came in fourth in the 3000-steeplechase (10:25.96), while
Cavanaugh McGaw matched that finish in the 800 (1:56.51). Additionally,
Allan Pedin and
Jeremiah Bethea tied for the third-best clearance in the pole vault after topping 4.10 meters.
