Â
Coming into the weekend,
Courtney Fiest ranks second in the CAC with 21 points and third with nine goals. Fellow sophomore
Jackie Kotoriy also has a league-high seven assists, while
Rachael Allshouse is third with four helpers. Incredibly, four Captains rank among the top-10 in total points this year. Along with Fiest, Kotoriy is seventh (11), while Allshouse and
Ariana Samuel are tied for ninth (10).
Â
Meanwhile, on the defensive end,
Olivia Davis has a league-best .857 save percentage. Her 0.73 goals-against-average also places her second among conference goalkeepers.
Â
In addition to the starters, the Captains have also received key contributions from the reserves this year. Against No. 2 Messiah on Wednesday,
Nyla Lewis,
Angelica Florendo,
Lily Bryngelson, and
Madison McGowan combined for 75 minutes of action and helped keep the high-powered Falcons scoreless over the final 46 minutes.
Â
Overall this season, McGowan, Lewis, and Bryngelson all have assists, while Florendo has been a spark on both sides of the ball.
Â
On the other side of the field, York (Pa.) enters on a four-game roll, including a 4-0 victory at St. Mary's (Md.) on Tuesday. The Spartans have blanked their last two opponents and have four total shutouts this year. Leading the way on the back line, Jennifer Morrissette leads the conference with six defensive saves, while Julea Truskey ranks second with five.
Â
Offensively, the Spartans have received 20 points from Greta Plappert, while Truskey and Lindsay Nye have 10 apiece. Plappert has contributed at least one point in her last seven appearances, including a pair of strikes against the Seahawks on Tuesday.
Â
In five previous meetings between the Captains and Spartans, CNU holds a 3-2 edge, including a 4-2 victory last year. However, York (Pa.) has won both contests in Pennsylvania.
