GREENSBORO, N.C. --
Freshman Logan Harrington pieced together a tremendous performance in the 800 to headline several all-time efforts by the Captains as the Christopher Newport track & field teams wrapped up the Aggie Invitational at North Carolina A&T's Irwin Belk Track on Saturday.

During the meet, Harrington won the 800 with a time of 2:13.99. Not only does that clocking rank second in CNU history, but it also places her third in the NCAA as of this weekend. Her time shaved over two seconds of her previous best, which she set last week during the Colonial Relays.

In other distance events, Jessica McClelland and Julie Machamer each nabbed top-10 showings in the 1500. McClelland set the tone with a third-place performance after crossing the line in 4:48.94, while Machamer clocked in at 4:54.57. That time currently ranks ninth on the program's all-time performance list.

Jennifer Westerholm also excelled on Saturday, placing sixth in the triple jump with a distance of 11.00-meters before finishing 10th in the long jump with a 4.98-meter leap. The sophomore standout also came in 14th in the 400-hurdles with a time of 1:04.67. That ranks ninth in program history.

In other events on the women's side, Madison Bloxom came in sixth in the javelin with a 32.08-meter toss, while the 4x400-relay team placed ninth overall. The foursome of Harrington, McClelland, Meaghan Grant, and Briana Stewart clocked in at 4:06.07.

On the men's side, the Captains won a pair of events at the Aggie Invitational. Samuel Martin tallied the top time in the 1500 after crossing the line in 3:58.36. Richard Roethel also kicked off his outdoor season with a win in the javelin after unleashing a 54.80-meter toss. Robert Graham was close behind, placing third overall with a 49.10-meter performance. That distance ranks sixth all-time at CNU.

Christopher Comeau also came through with an historic performance in the pole vault. During the discipline, he cleared 4.25-meters, which places him ninth on CNU's all-time list. In other field events, Kendrick McMinn finished second in the hammer with a 44.07-meter heave, while Dominique Torres placed fourth in the triple jump after landing a 14.25-meter leap.

Among other top-10 efforts, Troy Newcomer finished ninth in the high jump after eclipsing 1.88-meters, while William Rabil matched that effort in the 800 after completing the event in 1:56.85. Newcomer, Torres, Robert Mayes, and Daulton Teaford also teamed up for a fifth-place performance in the 4x100 after clocking in at 42.16.

Christopher Newport will return to action on Friday for the start of the two-day New Captains Classic at Pomoco Stadium.
