NEWPORT NEWS, Va. -- The Captains opened the 2026-27 season on Friday with a mock dual against Hampton University to start the weekend's action at the Eyre Courts. Christopher Newport women's tennis picked up a pair of doubles wins and one singles victory against the NCAA Division I opponent.
The doubles performance led the way for CNU as two-time NCAA Doubles National Qualifier
Kylie Schaefer paired with newcomer
Molly Miller for a 6-3 win against Toffee Ghorab and Tanya Midzi. Schaefer's 2026 national qualifying partner,
Kendal Chang, also earned a doubles win with another newcomer,
Anna Bong, as the CNU duo earned a 6-1 win against Serena Bryan and Melis Sakiroglu.
In singles, it was junior
Nathalie Lanne who picked up the lone win of the evening for the Captains. She dispatched Brielle Brade by a final score of 6-3, 6-0 to pick up the first win of the season for CNU.
The Captains will return to action at the Eyre Courts this weekend for the remainder of the CNU Mock Dual Invite.
