NEWPORT NEWS, Va. -- Christopher Newport University junior
Kylie Schaefer was named the Coast-To-Coast Athletic Conference Women's Tennis Player of the Week on Monday after helping lift the 23rd-ranked Captains to a pair of victories this weekend.
Schaefer earned her second Player of the Week recognition this season and hauled in the third overall certificate for the Captains in 2025-26.
Kendal Chang earned the other honor on March 16.
This week, Schaefer and the rest of the Captains earned a 6-1 win over Virginia Wesleyan University and also hauled in a 6-1 win against North Carolina Wesleyan University. She won all three of her matches played by going 2-0 at No. 1 singles and 1-0 at No. 1 doubles.
Against Virginia Wesleyan, she defeated Tuva Fink at No. 1 singles in a 6-0, 6-1 final. Then, versus N.C. Wesleyan, she paired with Chang for a 6-4 win at No. 1 doubles and added a 6-0, 6-2 win against defending USA South Athletic Conference Player of the Year Andrea Elaez Miranda.
The Captains will return to action on Friday, April 3 at 3:30 p.m. when they travel to face Mary Washington.
