Marlins Invitational Live Results // Patriot Games Live Results

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. --
The Christopher Newport track & field teams will take part in a pair of meets this week as the Captains travel to the Marlins Invitational at the Virginia Beach Sports Center on Friday and the Patriot Games at the George Mason Field House on Friday and Saturday.

The Marlins Invitational begins at 10 a.m. on Friday, while the Patriot Games open at 4 p.m. On Saturday, the latter competition will pick up at 9:30 a.m. For fans unable to make those trips, live results will be available for both meets. Direct links can be found at the top of this release and on the schedule page.

Nearly 70 Captains are currently entered in at least one event at the Marlins Invitational, while eight standouts are scheduled to make the trip to the Patriot Games. Among the crew heading to George Mason, Sam Anania, Jahi Jemison, Ashley Eley, and Ellie Nuckols are slated to make their season debut in the combined events.

Along with their anticipated debut in the pentathlon, Eley and Nuckols are two of four Captains who are ranked in the top-50 nationally in an event. Eley is 15th in the triple jump with an 11.39-meter effort at the VMI Team Challenge, while Nuckols is 42nd in the long jump with a 5.43-meter showing at the same competition.

Meanwhile, on the men's side, Seth Morris and Daniel Young both sit among the national leaders in the shot put. Morris is 18th with a 16.45-meter launch at the Holiday Open, while Young is 39th with a 15.62-meter toss at the VMI Team Challenge.

In addition to the nationally-ranked competitors, Christopher Newport boasts several other stars who sit at the top of the Coast-to-Coast Athletic Conference charts this year. In the pole vault, Sam Anania is first on the men's side (4.25 meters), while Lily Knowles and Elizabeth Lacombe are tied for the top ranking on the women's list (2.99 meters). In other field events, David Kayembe is first in the men's long jump (6.43 meters), Mikayla Asprey leads the way in the women's shot put (11.80 meters), and Rylee Ehrett sits first in the women's weight throw (14.00 meters).

On the track, Sarah Dake and Clayton Rankin have dominated the distance events. For the women, Dake boasts the league's fastest clocking in both the 800 (2:26.60) and 5000 (18:13.68). Meanwhile, Rankin ranks first in the men's 5000 after completing the race in 15:47.43 at the Holiday Open.

After Saturday, Christopher Newport will kick off February with another busy weekend. The Captains are scheduled to participate in both the Camel City Sprints & Distance Festival beginning on Friday before hosting the Vince Brown Invitational on Sunday.
