Alyssa Dozier Hauls in Tenth Career C2C Player of the Week Certificate

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. -- Christopher Newport senior middle blocker Alyssa Dozier (Arlington, Va.) was named the Coast-To-Coast Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Week on Monday. Dozier collected her third Player of the Week certificate of the season and her tenth career conference weekly honor.

CNU played in just one match last week as Dozier helped lift the Captains to a 3-0 win at Marymount. With the win, CNU improved to 17-7 overall including a 5-1 record in road games this season.

Prior to the 2025 season, Dozier had earned six offensive player of the week selections and one defensive player of the week recognition from the Coast-To-Coast Athletic Conference. This year, the senior was named the C2C Offensive Player of the Week once and has now earned the Defensive Player of the Week honor twice.

Against the Saints, Dozier was just one block shy of her season high and finished the match with nine total rejections. Among them, she had three solo terminations and six asssted stops to lead a defensive effort that saw the Captains record 12.0 total blocks as a team. With her three solo blocks in the match, she moved her 2025 campaign into a tie for ninth most in CNU single season history, matching CNU Athletics Hall of Famer Andrea Spurell's 1986 campaign with 47. It also gave her 151 career solo blocks as she became just the third player (Dawn Terry '83-86 & Angie Cook '82-85) to reach 150 in her career.

Continuing to add to her impressive individual accolades, Dozier tied Riley Garrison (2016-19) with 457 career blocks for second most all-time at CNU. She now trails only the all-time leader, Bailey Jensen (2009-12) with 486 on the career list at Christopher Newport. Among active players in NCAA volleyball, Dozier ranks second in Division III and 11th across the whole of the organization in career blocks.

While her defense powered an impressive overall performance, Dozier also led the team in kills on the offensive side of the ball with 10 on 22 swings for a .364 attack percentage. She added one assist and one dig while leading the Captains to the win.

Christopher Newport will return to action this Wednesday, October 29 as the Captains travel to Bridgewater College (16-6) for a 6:00 p.m. matchup against the Eagles.
