ARLINGTON, Va. --
Alyssa Dozier had 10 kills with a .364 hitting percentage and nine blocks as CNU volleyball defeated Marymount University 3-0 (25-16, 25-10, 25-17) Friday night in Arlington.
The Captains recorded 12.0 total blocks, marking the second most in a match this season and the fifth double-digit block total of the season. Dozier led with six solo blocks and three assisted while
Simara Alexander,
Avery Hanly, and
Samantha Dorn each had three denials at the net.
Alexander added nine kills with no errors on 14 total swings (.643) along with two aces. Dorn had nine kills and
Emmy Carpenedo added six along with nine digs and two aces.
Fielding Croft finished with 31 assists (10.3 per set), her ninth consecutive match with at least that many, and two aces.
Neither team led by more than three points in the first set until CNU (17-7) finished with a 10-3 run to close out a 25-16 win. Alexander had four kills in the set.
In the second set, CNU took the lead for good at 2-1 and cruised to a 25-10 win behind four kills and three blocks by Dozier. Alexander served on five winning points, including an ace.
Marymount (10-14) trimmed a 19-9 deficit to 20-15 in the third set, but the Captains finished off the match with a 5-2 run. Dozier and Dorn had four kills each.
CNU will have the weekend off before a trip to Bridgewater College Wednesday at 6 p.m. The Eagles defeated the Captains 3-2 (26-24, 25-22, 21-25, 19-25, 15-11) on Sept. 5 in the Freeman Center.
