NEWPORT NEWS, Va. -- For the second week in a row and the third time this season, Christopher Newport University swept volleyball player of the week honors in the Coast-To-Coast Athletic Conference.
Junior outside hitter
Samantha Dorn was named Offensive Player of the Week after posting 20 kills in the Captains' sweep of Salisbury University and Randolph-Macon College. She had a .581 hitting percentage for the week along with five aces.
Senior middle blocker
Alyssa Dozier was named Defensive Player of the Week. She finished the week with nine blocks (1.29 per set), five of which were solo. On the offensive side, she had 28 kills and moved into 11th place on the school's all-time list with 1,167.
It was Dozier's second C2C weekly honor this season. She was named Offensive Player of the Week on Sept. 15.
CNU (14-6) has won six consecutive matches and eight of its last nine going into this weekend's Coast-To-Coast Invitational in the Freeman Center.
The Captains will compete against UC Santa Cruz (Friday, 6 p.m.), Mary Washington (Saturday, 2 p.m.) and Salisbury (Saturday, 6 p.m.). CNU defeated Mary Washington 3-0 and Salisbury 3-1 earlier this month with both wins coming on the road.
