WILLIAMSBURG, Va. -- Capping off the 58th Annual Colonial Relays in style,
CJ Reeders posted a win in the men's triple jump while leading the Christopher Newport track & field teams to a solid finish at the prestigious competition, which was held at William & Mary's Zable Stadium and Stimson Throwing Area.
In the triple jump, Reeders landed a distance of 14.33 meters. That effort placed him first in the field and topped the second-best Division III competitor by over three feet. It also marked his top showing since landing a distance of 14.55 meters at last year's NCAA Championships.
Along with Reeders,
Brandon Peterson also took part in the event and finished 12th overall with a 12.85-meter showcase.
On the women's side, a pair of Captains added top-10 efforts on Saturday.
Ashley Eley finished fifth in the high jump after eclipsing 1.50 meters. Meanwhile,
Katie Stevens came in sixth in the discus with a 40.77-meter launch. That marked the second-best throw of her career, falling less than two feet short of her PR set last week at the Blue & Silver Challenge.
Christopher Newport will return to action on April 12 for the start of the two-day Dennis Craddock Coaches Classic at Lynchburg.
