SALISBURY, Md. --
Capping off the regular season with a top-25 test, the 21st-ranked Christopher Newport women's lacrosse team will travel to No. 5 Salisbury for a 1 p.m. battle on Saturday at Sea Gull Stadium.

Entering the weekend, CNU sits at 12-4 on the season, including 5-3 on the road. Meanwhile, Salisbury is 12-3 with a 5-2 mark at home.

For those fans unable to attend the game, live stats and a video stream of the action will be available at CNUsports.com. Direct links to both features can be found at the top of this release and on the schedule page.

Christopher Newport comes into the weekend on a four-game winning streak, including a 13-7 triumph over Mary Washington last Saturday. Celebrating Senior Day in style, six of the squad's veterans found the back of the cage while combining for 10 of the team's 13 goals. Julia Iapicca netted a hat-trick and became just the fifth player in program history to record a pair of 50-goal campaigns.

Along with Iapicca, Kelsey Winters chipped in with seven points, including six assists. She now sits just seven helpers shy of matching the all-time Division III career record of 275, which was set by Rhodes' Emily Bruner from 2019-23. She is also just three points away from becoming the 16th player to reach 400 career points.

Inching towards her own historic achievement, Emma Jackson is one caused turnover away from tying the all-time program standard of 89, which was set by Emily Johnson from 2011-14.

So far this season, CNU ranks ninth in the NCAA with a .524 shooting percentage. Sloane McDonald leads the team with a .633 mark, while Page Henry has converted at a .625 clip. Among the players with at least 10 goals, six have at least a .500 shooting percentage.

In other categories, the Captains are 21st in the NCAA in clearing percentage (.882) and lead the league in free-position percentage (.531) and assists-per-game (7.50). On an individual level, Winters is third in the country with 65 assists, while Hadley Chadwick is 24th with a stellar 8.34 goals-against-average.

Fittingly, Winters and Chadwick are the reigning Coast-to-Coast Athletic Conference Players of the Week.

Salisbury enters Saturday riding a three-game winning streak, including a 19-9 win at Mary Washington on Wednesday. That victory marked the 400th triumph of head coach Jim Nestor's 23-year tenure at Salisbury. During the game, Camryn Pepper posted a career-high eight points, including six assists, while Leah Vilov had five goals.

Overall this season, the Sea Gulls rank 11th in the NCAA in clearing percentage (.893) and 25th in scoring defense (8.00 goals-against-average). The team has also committed just 12.00 turnovers per game, which stands as the fourth-best rate in the country. On an individual level, Kaitlyn Hunsinger is 13th nationally with a 7.82 goals-against-average, while Pepper leads the team with 45 points and 26 assists.

In 27 previous meetings between the two programs, Salisbury holds a pristine 27-0 record. Last year, the Sea Gulls picked up a 12-11 overtime win during the regular season and a 14-8 victory during the conference championship.
