WILLIAMSBURG, Va. -- In a regatta that was shortened to just five races due to poor weather, the Christopher Newport sailing team captured a win at the William and Mary Spring Open. The Captains scored 12 points to outpace second place by 14, cruising to the spring event victory. 

Brian Fox and Sebastian Beavers had a dominant performance in A division sailing, posting five bullets in five total races. Winning all five races they sailed, the Captains finished with 5 points to win the division by eight points. 

In B division, Joshua Bendura and Gail Schneider had a nearly equally as impressive run, finishing with 7 points. The CNU duo won B division by six points after firing off three wins and two second-place finishes. 

As a team, CNU finished with 12 points and eight victories in ten races. 

The Captains will return to action on April 15-16 at The Grant and the Truxtun Umstead regattas.
