HANBURY TROPHY
HAMPTON, Va. -- The Christopher Newport sailing team finished fifth out of eight teams at the Hanbury Trophy hosted by the Captains. CNU recorded 222 total points with 89 points in A division and 133 in B division.
Walter Roou and
Jacob Fleming sailed in the A division boat and finished sixth place overall. The B division tandem was
Griffin Donahoe and Corine Glickstein and they finished in tenth place.Â
The Captains picked up one bullet, crossing the line first in the second A division race in the regatta. The A division boat added seven top-five finishes while the B division boat notched one top five and ten top ten efforts.Â

KP OPEN TEAM RACE
KINGS POINT, N.Y. -- Christopher Newport entered a team in to the King's Point Open Team Race and came away with an eighth place finish out of ten teams in the regatta. The Captains went 2-7 overall and tied Cornell University but captured eighth with a head-to-head tiebreaker.Â
Sailing for the Captains was
Aston Atherton,
Josh Bendura,
Grace Watlington, Braden Silveria,
Hannah Louise Roethel, and
Berend Van der Meer.Â
The Captains won against Cornell with a perfect 1-2-3 finish and also dropped the host, King's Point, with a 1-2-4 finish. CNU also had the first place vote against Bowdoin but dropped the decision with a 1-5-6 effort.Â
CNU will return to action on March 28-29 at the Azalea Bowl in Raleigh, N.C. and at the William & Mary Spring in Williamsburg, Va.
