ANNAPOLIS, Md. -- Competing at the United States Naval Academy for the Graham Hall Team Race this weekend, the Christopher Newport sailing team wrapped up their second regatta of the Spring season on Sunday. CNU finished the weekend 1-17 and wrapped up a 16th place finish overall.
The regatta completed 98 races on the first day before completing the initial round robin on Sunday. The event was then broken into a Gold 6, Silver 6, and Bronze 4 final that resulted in 162 total races over the weekend.
CNU's lone win came against George Washington University. The Captains crossed the line 2-3-4 to pick up the victory in the team racing format. In the rest of the round robin, CNU added a strong appearance against Hobart and William Smith, finishing 2-3-6, while adding a 3-4-6 finish in four more head-to-head matchups.
In the Bronze 4 finals the Captains were pitted against Cornell, Old Dominion, and Fordham. Against the Big Red, CNU captured another second-place finish but finished 2-5-6 in the setback. Versus Old Dominion, the Captains crossed 4-5-6, and taking on Fordham, CNU dropped a decision with a 3-4-5 finish.
