Final Results
WILLIAMSBURG, Va. -- Madi Rawlings wrapped up a fantastic weekend for the Christopher Newport track & field teams with a sensational effort in the 10,000 on the final day of the Colonial Relays at William & Mary's Zable Stadium and Dan Stimson Throwing Events Area.
In the 10,000, Rawlings concluded the race in 39:24.10. That not only established a new PR, but it also vaulted her to fifth on the program's all-time performance list and marked the top effort by a Captain since 2017.
Along with Rawlings,
Alyssa Roach and
Katie Stevens also starred for the women. Stevens finished ninth in the discus with a 33.17-meter toss, while Roach came in 15th in the 100-hurdles with a time of 14.88.
The men also had several top-10 efforts on Saturday.
Daniel Young came in second in the shot put with a 13.41-meter toss, while two Captains added high marks in the triple jump. In the invitational section,
CJ Reeders placed third with a 14.63-meter showcase. Meanwhile,
Brandon Peterson was seventh in the open division after landing a 13.08-meter leap.
On the track,
Luke Hawkins led the men in the 10,000 after completing the gauntlet in 34:28.57.
Christopher Newport will be back in action on Friday when the squad returns home for the start of the New Captains Classic & Combined Events at TowneBank Stadium.
