NEWPORT NEWS, Va. - The top-ranked Captains of Christopher Newport University host the 2022 Coast-To-Coast Athletic Conference Tournament beginning Thursday. The action is set to begin at 2:00 p.m. at Captains Park when second-ranked Salisbury University takes on the University of Mary Washington. The winner of the opening game will then take on the Captains in a 4:30 p.m. start. 

The action will continue in the three-team tourney on Friday and then possibly Saturday, if necessary, with the Champion advancing to the NCAA Division III Tournament with the C2C's automatic bid. 

The Captains are the top seed in the double elimination tournament, and have a 35-1 record entering Thursday's action. Keith Parr's squad has been the top-ranked team in the country for the last seven weeks, and have won 12 straight games after opening the year with a 23-game winning streak. The Captains are 19-0 at home this season, and are looking to advance to their 15th consecutive NCAA Tournament.

Salisbury is 34-4 and seeded second, as well as ranked second in the nation, heading into the tourney. Mary Washington, the third seed, has posted an 18-21 mark this year during the regular season. In league play, the Captains were 4-0, Salisbury 2-2, and Mary Washington 0-4.

Friday's games are also scheduled to start at 2:00 and 4:30 p.m. The opening game will be an elimination game, as the two losing teams from Thursday's action will clash. The winner will move on to play the victor from Thursday's second game. If needed, a deciding title game would take place on Saturday at 1:00 p.m.
