Final Results
GLASSBORO, N.J. -- Behind a slew of historic performances, the Christopher Newport track & field teams orchestrated another impressive showcase as the Captains starred at the Rowan Final Qualifier on Thursday at Coach Richard Wackar Stadium and the West Campus Fields.
Â
Leading the way,
Alyssa Roach continued to dominate in the 100-hurdles. After setting a new PR in the event last week at Mount Olive, she shattered her own standard on Thursday. During the finals, she posted a time of 14.48, which ranks fourth on the program's all-time performance list and stands as the top clocking by a Captain since Karen Simon threw down a time of 14.42 in 2006.
Â
Roach's time also stands in the top-20 nationally entering Thursday's action.
Â
Along with Roach, C.J. Reeders also set a new personal-best with his work in the triple jump. The second-year star added nearly a foot to his PR after landing a distance of 14.87 meters. That equaled the seventh-longest in program history and moved him to sixth in the NCAA this season.
Â
Rounding out the history-makers,
Allan Pedin won the pole vault after topping 4.56 meters. That matched his own PR and tied the fifth-finest effort in school lore.
Â
In other events on Thursday,
Brandon Berry excelled in a pair of sprints. He finished fifth in the 200 (22.57) and sixth in the 100 (10.85). Meanwhile,
Zoe Stauffer and
Peyton Blanding added a pair of third-place finishes on the women's side. Stauffer unleashed a 35.54-meter toss in the javelin, while Blanding eclipsed 3.13 meters in the pole vault.
Â
Christopher Newport will now await for word on possible bids to the NCAA Championships, which will begin on May 27 in Greensboro, North Carolina. A final list of meet participants is expected to be released Friday evening on NCAA.com.
