YORK, Pa. -- Looking to continue its postseason run, the 16th-ranked Christopher Newport field hockey team will head to York (Pa.) for the Capital Athletic Conference semifinals on Wednesday at 3 p.m. at Kinsley Field.

With a berth in the CAC Championship on the line, the third-seeded Captains enter the contest with a 12-5 record. On the other side, second-seeded York (Pa.) comes in with a 10-7 mark.

CNU punched its ticket to the semifinals with a 7-0 victory over Frostburg State in a first-round match-up on Sunday.
Courtnie Greene was honored as the CAC Offensive Player of the Week for her performance during that contest as she registered five points, including a pair of goals.
Rachel Cooke also handed out two assists against the Bobcats, while
Brittan Muir and
Izzy Diz notched two defensive saves apiece.

Sunday's shutout marked the ninth of the year for the Captains, which stands as the eighth-most in the nation. Christopher Newport also ranks seventh in save percentage (.844) and 12th in goals-against-average (0.80). On an individual level,
Olivia Davis ranks 13th nationally in save percentage (.816) and 14th in goals-against-average (0.89). Muir's four defensive saves also place her fourth in the CAC.

Offensively,
Courtney Fiest enters Wednesday ranked third in the league with 32 points and six assists. Her 13 goals also place her fourth among conference competitors. Helping balance out a well-rounded attack,
Rachael Allshouse and
Jackie Kotoriy are tied for the league-lead with seven assists apiece, while Allshouse also sits second on the team with six strikes.

On the other side of the field, York (Pa.) boasts a high-powered attack, which has scored at least two goals in 10 straight contests, including a 6-1 victory over Frostburg State in the regular season finale. Headlining the offense, Greta Plappert ranks second in the CAC with 16 goals and 37 points. Dana Meehling also sits fifth in both categories with nine strikes and 22 points. Defensively, Sam Keating boasts a 2.02 goals-against-average and a .704 save percentage.

York and Christopher Newport last met on October 13 with the Spartans notching a 2-1 overtime victory in Pennsylvania. Fiest scored CNU's lone goal, while Meehling notched both tallies for YCP, including the clincher on a penalty stroke. On the defensive side, Davis made four saves for the Captains, and Keating had five for the Spartans.

Overall, the two teams have met six times with both squads registering three wins apiece.

The winner of Wednesday's contest will advance to the CAC Championship on Saturday for a date with the survivor of the #1 Salisbury - #4 Mary Washington semifinal contest. The title bout will be hosted by the highest remaining seed.
