CNU Cross Country Heads to Wisconsin for UW-Oshkosh Kollege Town Sports Invitational on Saturday

WINNECONNE, Wisc. -- Competing on the same course that will host the national championship meet next month, the Christopher Newport cross country teams will take part in the Wisconsin-Oshkosh Kollege Town Sports Invitational on Saturday at the Lake Breeze Golf Club in Winneconne, Wisconsin.

Testing themselves against some of the top programs in the nation, the Captains will face a crowded field of decorated participants on Sunday. The men's pre-national and open races feature 51 teams, while the women's portion of the meet includes 52 programs.

Among those entered in the meet, 17 nationally-ranked teams will take part in the men's competition, including No. 1 North Central. Meanwhile, the women will also face 17 nationally-ranked teams, including five squads slotted in the top-10.

Saturday's action gets underway with the Women's Pre-National 6k at 10:40 a.m. ET. The Men's Pre-National 8k begins 40 minutes later. The Open and Invitational competitions will follow.

Entering the competition, Christopher Newport boasts high marks in the USTFCCCA Regional Rankings. The men are currently slotted fifth in the South / Southeast, while the women stand seventh. 

Saturday's meet not only serves as a preview for the national championship, but it also marks CNU's final tune-up before the Capital Athletic Conference Championships. The league meet will take place on October 27 a the Vista Links Golf Course in Buena Vista, Virginia.
