Victoria Perry And Kira Warner Earn NSCAA All-Region Honors

2015 NSCAA All-South Atlantic Region

KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Victoria Perry and Kira Warner each collected second team All-South Atlantic Region accolades on Wednesday through an announcement from the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA). Perry, a junior forward, and Warner, a sophomore defender, helped lead the way for the Christopher Newport women's soccer team in 2015 after stellar individual campaigns.

Perry earned All-Region honors for the second time in her career after garnering second team laurels as a sophomore in 2014. Warner picks up her first career certificate and becomes just the second defender in program history to collect NSCAA All-Region honors.

Backing up her sensational sophomore season, Perry backed up her performance with another tremendous effort in her third year with the program. The Purcellville, Va. native became just the third player in CNU women's soccer lore to post back-to-back 30-point seasons. She finished her junior year with a team-high 32 points and 13 goals scored. She added six assists while putting away five game-winning goals, continuing to add to her legacy as one of the most clutch players in program history. She now ranks second all-time in career winners, with 12.

A dangerous threat offensively, Perry was held scoreless in just seven games this year in her 20 starts. The 2014 CAC Player of the Year earned first team All-Conference honors for the second consecutive season after ranking second in the league in goals and total points. She also led the CAC in total shots, with 90, while putting 49 attempts on-frame. Perry continues to rapidly ascend the career scoring charts at CNU, ranking third in assists (19), fifth in total points (77) and tied for sixth in goals scored (29).

Joining Perry on the All-Region second team, and running the Captains' streak of multiple All-Region selections to three straight years, was defender Kira Warner. One of just five players to start all 20 games this season, Warner led the team in minutes as a center back of a stingy defense. She played in 1,709 of a possible 1,833 minutes, helping the Captains post nine shutouts and a 0.93 goals against average. The CNU back line held opponents to just 9.5 shots per game.

The tough defender was the 2014 CAC Rookie of the Year and has collected second team All-Conference honors in each of her two years with the Captains. Warner joins Elke Reisdorph ('99 - 3rd team) as the only defenders in program history to earn All-Region honors, and is the 15th different player in program history to be named an All-Region selection.

Warner and Perry helped lead the Captains to a third consecutive conference regular season championship, while finishing out the year with a 14-5-1 overall record and 8-1-0 mark in conference play. The 14-win season matched the most in a single season since 2010 and also included tying the mark for most wins in a regular season in program history.
