MIDDLETOWN, PA.- Christopher Newport's pitching was again spectacular Wednesday as the Captains won two Capital Athletic Conference games at Penn State Harrisburg. Both freshman Makayla Jenkins and sophomore Krista Lewis tossed six inning shutouts, and Lewis allowed no hits in the second game. CNU pitching allowed no runs on just two hits for the day.

The Captains, who moved up to 14th in the nation on Wednesday, defeated the Lions by scores of 10-0 and 8-0, with both games stopped after six innings due to the eight-run rule. CNU is now 21-5 overall and 5-1 in the CAC. Keith Parr's squad has won five in a row and 20 of its last 22.

In the opener, the Captains erupted for seven runs in the second inning. Senior Kristina McLaughlin delivered a three-run triple and junior Sabrina Hill clubbed her eighth home run of the season, a solo shot, during the big frame. CNU added three more runs in the sixth inning to post the 10-0 win that saw the Captains deliver 17 hits.

Jenkins allowed just two hits in four innings and struck out seven to pick up her second win of the season against no defeats. Sophomore Hanah Marshall threw two scoeless innings to finish up.

In the second game, Christopher Newport plated five runs in the fourth inning en route to the 8-0 triumph. Sophomore Tori Clarke registered three hits and senior Candice Zollars knocked in two runs.

CNU finished with 13 hits in game two to finish the day with a combined 18 runs on 30 hits in the twin bill.

Krista Lewis was untouchable in the pitching circle, facing just 21 batters in six innings. The only Lions to reach base came on three walks by Lewis, who struck out three in the no hitter. Lewis improved to 12-2 on the year with the victory.

The Captains will now head to Bridgewater for a non-conference doubleheader Thursday beginning at 3:00 p.m.
