Christopher Newport Softball's Katrina Swan Named Academic All-District

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. - Christopher Newport University junior third baseman Katrina Swan was named Academic All-District earlier this week by the College Sports Communicators (CSC). Swan, from Vienna, Va., is a graduate of James Madison High School and recently completed her third season with the Captains.

A psychology major with a near-perfect GPA through three years, Swan played in 38 games this spring, making 37 starts for Keith Parr's squad. She posted a batting average of .308 with three home runs and 19 runs batted in. Swan registered 33 hits in all, with 13 doubles and a pair of triples to go with her three homers, and also stole eight bases in eight attempts.

The 2026 Academic All-District Softball teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America program separately recognizes softball honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.

The Captains finished the 2026 season with a 30-13 record, and advanced to the NCAA Division III Softball Tournament for the 19th straight time.
