NEWPORT NEWS, Va.- Schedule changes made this week due to weather concerns will make it a busy couple of days coming up for the Christopher Newport University softball team. The Captains, who moved up this week to 18th in the nation, will now play a road doubleheader at Lynchburg on Friday and will then host the top team in the country, Salisbury, Saturday at Captains Park.
CNU is in the midst of a 14-game winning streak and
Keith Parr's squad is now 15-3 for the season. The Captains are undefeated at home, 10-0, and riding the second-longest home winning streak in the nation.
The doubleheader at Lynchburg on Friday will begin at 2 p.m. The non-conference games were originally scheduled for Wednesday, but switched due to rain and poor field conditions.
CNU and Salisbury were originally scheduled to meet on Sunday, but the twin bill has been moved to Saturday due to rain in the forecast. Saturday's doubleheader will get underway at 1 p.m. at Captains Park, and will mark the first conference games ever for the Captains as members of the Capital Athletic Conference.
The Sea Gulls of Salisbury moved into the top spot in the country this week and are 14-0 so far this season. Salisbury was the pre-season pick by CAC coaches to win the league title, while the Captains were selected second in the pre-season poll. The games will also be the first conference matchups of the year for Salisbury.

Sabrina Hill has been red hot of late, crushing five home runs last week in six CNU victories. Hill, who was selected the CAC's Player of the Week on Monday, has six round-trippers now for the year and is tied for second on the school's all-time home run list with 26 for her career.

Krista Lewis is 9-1 so far to lead the Captains in the circle.
