ROCKY MOUNT, NC – Christopher Newport's volleyball team continued its hot play by sweeping a pair of USA South matches against Averett and Ferrum at a USA South Tri-Match hosted by NC Wesleyan Saturday afternoon.
With the two wins, the Captains now have won 11 straight and are sitting alone in first place atop the USA South standings.
CNU opened the tri-match by winning 3-0 over Ferrum scores of 30-13, 30-20, and 30-10. Averett by scores of 30-21, 30-15, and 30-27.
Allie Wolf finished with 13 kills on 24 attempts with three errors for a .417 hitting percentage. She also finished with seven digs. Ellen Koch added 11 kills and four digs.
Brittany Collins led all players with 33 assists to go along with five digs. Christie Kirby finished with a game-high 10 digs.
Against Averett, the Captains won by scores of 30-21, 30-15, and 30-27.
Koch finished with 10 kills and eight digs to pace Christopher Newport. Collins added 15 assists, seven aces and seven digs. Ryann Lowery had 14 assists and Allie Wolf contributed nine kills and 10 digs.
Christopher Newport is now 12-5 overall and 8-0 in the USA South. CNU returns to action Wednesday as they travel to Shenandoah with start time set for 6:30 pm.
