NEWPORT NEWS, VA – Christopher Newport University teams won a school-record 72% of their contests this past year, and today it was announced that CNU has captured the Virginia Sports Information Directors Association (VaSID) College Division All-Sports Survey.
This marks the second straight year and the sixth year in the last 10 the Captains have won the overall award. The survey ranks all 27 non-NCAA Division I schools in the state by overall winning percentage.
CNU teams finished the 2009-2010 season with an overall record of 250-95-7 for the .720 winning percentage.
Finishing second this year was Hampden-Sydney College with a 70.7% winning percentage, followed by Virginia Wesleyan College (61.4%), University of Mary Washington (59.2%) and Lynchburg College (59%). Hampden-Sydney won the men's division with its 70.7% winning percentage, while CNU took the women's division with an amazing 80.2% winning mark.
